Good to know

  • Width x heightSizes are given as width x height in centimetres. A 130x90 is 130 cm wide and 90 cm high.
  • Ready to hangThe canvas is stretched over wooden stretcher bars with hanging hardware fitted on the back, so it's ready to hang, with or without a frame.
  • With a frameThe frame sits around the canvas with a narrow gap and makes it about 3.5 cm larger in both width and height. So a 70x100 is about 73.5x103.5 cm framed.
  • DepthWithout a frame, the canvas sticks out about 2 cm from the wall. With a frame, it's about 3.2 cm, as the canvas sits inside the frame.

Not sure which size to go for?

Mark out the size of the canvas on your wall with masking tape and leave it up for a day. Above a sofa or bed, a canvas usually looks best when it's about half to two thirds the width of the furniture, with around 20 cm of space in between.
